How to Tell You Need AC Repairs

Nothing makes getting cool during summer harder than having an air conditioning unit that isn’t operating right. We don’t want you to ignore your system and try to make up the difference, but we also want to warn against jumping straight to the conclusion that an AC on the fritz needs to be replaced. That sweet spot in between is when you contact us to get your system repaired so you can get comfortable again.

Sometimes it can be a little tough to figure out when you need to schedule a repair for your air conditioner in Portland. Thankfully, you aren’t without help. We have listed some of the indicators that you should watch and listen for that will let you know to reach out to our team for help.

Beware of these Warning Signs

If you notice any of these issues popping up in your air conditioner, make sure you reach out for repairs sooner than later.

  • Noises that don’t belong: There are several sounds that you shouldn’t ignore when your AC starts to make them. These include noises like screeching, screaming, rattling, hissing, banging, and more. If your AC seems to be talking back to you, contact us for help.
  • Cool air that is weak: If your air conditioner is running and producing cool air but you can barely feel anything coming out of the vents, it may indicate a problem with the blower fan or even the ductwork. Your system won’t do you much good if the cold air it makes isn’t reaching its destination.
  • Airflow that is warm: Maybe the air from your ventilation system is flowing steady and strong but it isn’t cooling things off. Even if the air is flowing from your AC, it won’t help if the temperature is room temperature or even warmer. This can indicate a problem with your refrigerant or your evaporator coil, issues that you want to address ASAP.
  • Energy bills that are too high: Your energy bills will change a bit based on your use of your AC system. However it doesn’t mean they should show huge spikes. If you notice your energy bills are all over the place, it isn’t something to ignore; it is a sign your AC is struggling to do its job.
  • A system that is short cycling: Does your unit start a cooling cycle, only to shut off again after a few minutes? This isn’t due to an AC that is simply cooling off faster; it is a sign of one that is having serious trouble cooling your house. It could be due to an oversized system or a refrigerant leak, but whatever the cause the sooner you schedule a repair the better it will be for your comfort.

If you have a cooling system that is having trouble accomplishing its goals, you should schedule a repair service with our team to ensure you can stay comfortable this summer.
