Battle Spring Allergies With Our Help
Rodger Brown • April 11, 2022

spring-flowersPeople with allergies experience spring differently from the rest of us. While we visually enjoy the blooming plants and warmer temperatures, someone with allergies faces the challenge of managing a lot of triggers that might set them off. And there is nothing that can ruin a picnic so quickly as an allergy attack. (Ants are close.)

But it isn’t just the outdoor world that can present a problem for your respiratory system. Did you know that the air quality in the modern home can often be  worse than the air outside? This is because all the dust, pollen, and debris that gets into the house often  stays there.  Thankfully, there are ways to solve this problem.

Here are some of the ways our team can help you battle your allergies and achieve better indoor air quality this year.

Option 1: Install an Air Filter or Purifier

Installed within your ductwork, air filtration or air purification systems help to address the dust and debris that are in the air being pushed throughout your home. Through the use of a permeable membrane, electricity, or even UV light, these systems remove or destroy airborne contaminants, leaving you with cleaner and more comfortable air.

Option 2: Have a Professional Clean Out Your Ductwork

What’s in your ducts? You probably don’t look into your ductwork often and that’s okay! But after a few years, your ducts can accumulate a good deal of debris that will negatively affect the airflow throughout your home. If it has been three years or so since someone took a look at your ductwork, it may be a good idea to schedule  duct cleaning in Portland, OR to ensure that your ductwork isn’t worsening your indoor air quality.

Option 3: Adopt Some Additional Habits to Keep Your Allergies At Bay

We are sure that you do a lot to keep your home clean. But there are some additional habits you might not know about that can help keep your allergy symptoms to a minimum. If you aren’t already, try adding these habits into your regular regimen:

  • Keep dairy intake low : We love ice cream too but dairy tends to increase mucus production and can worsen allergy symptoms. Keep your consumption of milk, cheese, and other dairy products to a minimum when you are experiencing allergy issues.
  • Drink lots of water : The more hydrated you are, the better your body can fend off allergens.
  • Check and change your HVAC filter : While this filter helps your HVAC system the most, it doesn’t help to remove dust from the air in the house.
  • Keep windows and doors closed on windy days : This helps keep a larger amount of dust, pollen, and other allergens outside of your home.

You can rely on our team to help you boost your indoor air quality.
